JBA partnership with NEACTC and business leaders prepares students

Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – Feb. 27, 2025 – The Jonesboro Business Association (JBA) announced a strategic partnership with the Northeast Arkansas Career & Technical Center (NEACTC) and several esteemed business leaders to assist 100+ students who submitted resumés in preparation for Draft Day, an innovative workforce readiness initiative sponsored by the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce, Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Be Pro Be Proud.
This collaboration, held at Nettleton High School on Feb. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is a key component of JBA’s ongoing mission to equip young people with the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to transition successfully into the workforce.
“We’re deeply appreciative of the work NEACTC does to provide hands-on, career-focused education to students across the region,” said Henry Burrell, president of JBA. “We noticed a gap in this area’s current workforce development and saw the immediate need to help prepare these students for what’s to come.” He also praised the Business Leaders serving as volunteer instructors in this program who bring a wealth of expertise and real-world experience to the classroom, ensuring students receive practical guidance on professional development, job readiness and workplace success.
The team of instructors generously volunteering their time and expertise includes:

Draft Day will provide students with a comprehensive workforce training experience, including mock interviews, resume-building workshops, and industry-specific insights from business professionals. This initiative not only strengthens workforce development efforts in Northeast Arkansas but also empowers students to make more informed career decisions.
“We believe that preparing students for the workforce is one of the most impactful ways we can contribute to the future of our community,” Burrell said. “With the success of our Youth Entrepreneurship Program at MacArthur, and now Draft Day, we are building real pathways for students to thrive in their careers.”
JBA is grateful to the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce, Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Be Pro Be Proud as well as NEACTC and business leaders, Burrell said, because this collaborative commitment to shaping the next generation of professionals offers a positive and powerful advantage for students as they take their next steps toward successful careers.
