Position Summary
The Dexter Community Aquatic Club (DCAC) is seeking a full-time Head Coach who is an experienced leader that possesses the following attributes:

  • Commitment to upholding DCAC’s values as laid out in our Mission Statement
  • Possesses all USA coach membership qualifications, including completion of all required training
  • Investment in every child regardless of talent and/or swim performance
  • Cultivates a positive, fun atmosphere that encourages every swimmer and builds strong team camaraderie
  • Demonstrates ability to teach proper swim stroke technique and effectively coach swimmers with varying abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced
  • Creates and implements a structured training trajectory for competitive swimmers, emphasizing advanced technique and high-level competition readiness, that builds toward peak performance at major meets
  • Exhibits leadership & supervisory experience in leading a staff of assistant coaches
  • Works collaboratively with the Board of Directors on achieving strategic direction of the club, including but not limited to meet hosting, stroke clinics, and learn-to-swim programs
  • Communicates and responds positively and professionally with athletes and parents on a regular basis in person and through email
  • Develops positive relationships with area clubs
  • Experienced in facilitating pool operations, meet management, and team administration, including Team Unify/Meet Manager, Hy-tek, or similar platforms, to perform these functions in a timely manner
  • Strong commitment to community outreach, reinforced with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Fully and consistently available or coordinates assistant coaching to cover practices and meets, with the flexibility to adjust to changing schedules when needed
  • Coordinates and organizes practice schedules, plan and execute meet participation, manage team entries, and travel as needed

Other Duties

  • Seeks opportunities for continued professional development
  • Recruits, trains, and evaluates assistant coaches while supporting their professional growth
  • Develops and oversees Learn-to-Swim program
  • Participates in WISC (local summer conference) and positively represent DCAC on the WISC board
  • Collaborates with the Board of Directors on administrative functions
  • Attends monthly board meetings and communicate regularly with the Board of Directors
  • Assists Board of Directors in fundraising initiatives
  • Coordinates with Dexter Community Education and Dexter Community Schools to facilitate optimal facilities schedules
  • Maintains proper certification as required by applicable regulations and ensure the same for staff
  • Skillfully leverages social media, creates content, and fosters community connections across DCAC social platforms and in the community

Ideal Candidate will Possess

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of coaching competitive swimmers at all age group levels in a USA Swimming-recognized club
  • USA Swimming Club Head Coaching experience

Compensation
Salary range: $50,000 – $55,000 (salary dependent upon qualifications and experience)
