Fresno State’s Division of Continuing and Global Education announced its lineup of professional development workshops for fall 2024. These workshops will offer Fresno State students and the public opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in numerous fields.

Designed to cater to diverse interests and career goals, the workshops cover grant writing and management, medical interpreting, project management, and brewing basics. They are crafted to provide valuable insights and practical skills for those looking to advance their current careers or explore new opportunities.

The fall 2024 workshop schedule includes:

  • Grant Writing and Management is designed to teach the basics of grant writing and management, including proposal development, budgeting and project planning. The course takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 via Zoom, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 and Sept. 7 at the Kremen Education Building (Room 140).
  • Medical Interpreting is a six-week asynchronous course that explores the art of medical interpreting, including communication strategies, cultural competence and interpretation techniques. From Sept. 9 to Nov. 3, attendees will learn how to effectively communicate with patients and health care providers in a medical setting.
  • Project Management for the Workplace: Develop essential project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring and control. This face-to-face course will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7 through 10 at the Kremen Education Building (Room 140). Attendees will learn to apply these skills to their daily work.
  • Brew U — Brewing Basics is a two-week course that teaches the basics of brewing beer, from ingredient selection to fermentation techniques. It will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Aug. 13 to 29 at the Kremen Education Building (Room 140). This course is perfect for beer enthusiasts looking to understand the brewing process better.
