Job Purpose
The Senior level Accountant will support Matric by understanding customer needs and their respective job duties. The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general accounting functions of the company, as assigned, in order to meet and satisfy current and future company requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- All associates have a personal responsibility and accountability to ensure their day-to-day activities adhere to Matric’s quality and environmental policies.
- Performs accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll duties when additional required.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Collects and analyzes data about the company’s operational costs.
- Develops and analyzes cost standards.
- Assists in preparing audit reports and presenting findings.
- Reviews inventory transactions, codes, parameters, etc. to assure accuracy with the established rules and principles of general and cost accounting.
- Compiles and analyzes inventory information to prepare reports which assist management’s efforts to control inventory levels.
- Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and owners’ equity.
- Identifies fixed asset purchases, retirements and sales and maintains appropriate cost and depreciation records of company owned or leased equipment, buildings, and other property.
- Assists with month-end closings and the preparation of financial statements for management review.
- Performs duties in the preparation of financial and statistical reports as required.
- Files supporting documentation, reports, etc. of business transactions as required.
Qualifications

- A Bachelor of Arts or Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting.
- Strongly prefer at least two years practical experience in accounting profession.
- Experience in a manufacturing/cost accounting environment is desired.
- Experience may be substituted, at management’s discretion, in lieu of a degree.
- An ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff.

Essential Job Functions
- Attendance at work.
- To maintain accurate accounting records and reporting in compliance with GAAP.
- Analyze financial information and make recommendations as it relates to job costs.
- Perform account reconciliations and audit reports.
- Develop and analyze cost standards. Make recommendations for setting standard costs of manufactured goods.
- Prepare financial statements for management review.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable duties as required.
- Be able to follow work procedures and instructions both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well with other team members, performing work in a safe manner.
