Compensation: Salary

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education A degree from an accredited brewing school is preferred or equivalent experience. The position does require the ability to read and write English fluently, and the ability to perform advanced business mathematical functions.

2. Experience 1+ years of brewing experience in a microbrewery. Knowledge of general brewing practices required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) strongly recommended. Familiarity with Compeat Software, or a comparable inventory management software package, is beneficial.

3. Skills The position requires the ability to work well with associates while effectively completing assigned tasks in a timely manner. In addition, the position requires the following:

  • Fundamental knowledge of plumbing and machinery mechanics/maintenance
  • Possess basic beer knowledge, a trained palate, and the ability to distinguish flavors, aromas, and colors in beer.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with staff, customers, and outside parties.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office & other computer programs.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to problem solve and gain assistance as needed.
  • Capable of speaking in front of small groups of people as an instructor/presenter.
  • Basic understanding of data processing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Calculator and computer keyboard proficiency.
  • Professional image.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently, as needed.
  • Attendance The position requires the ability to work Monday through Friday, 52 weeks of the year. The position also requires the flexibility to work beyond 40 scheduled hours per week to meet deadlines as required by management.
  • Training Will be expected to meet certain 30/60/90 requirements as training progresses. Expected to demonstrate an understanding of our core portfolio within a reasonable time.
  • Licenses A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is required.
  • Equipment The position requires individuals to have access to a vehicle and must have the ability to drive without jeopardizing the safety of customers, vendors or fellow employees.
  • Physical Able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces. Able to work in hot, cold, and wet environments. Able to climb stairs/ladders, work at heights above 12 ft., and lift up to 150 lbs. Able to drive a vehicle. Able to stand for prolonged periods. Experience using a forklift a plus

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Adhere to all safety procedures and policies. Maintaining a clean work environment from the brew house to the warehouse and everywhere in between.

  • Keg cleaning of both sixtels and half barrels as well as essential festival equipment
  • Complete brewing process in a safe and efficient manner. This includes, but is not limited to, milling, mashing, wort boiling, cooling and transferring to fermenters, pitching yeast, etc.
  • Maintaining the use of standard operating procedures unless otherwise instructed.
  • Brewing recipes as provided by the Head Brewer. Desire to design and brew your own recipes when possible is a plus.
  • Ensure supply of raw materials and other inventory items required for brewing and cleaning
  • Monitoring and record keeping of temperatures, fermentation, and other data throughout the process from brewing through tapping the keg.
  • Kegging beer from the tank into 1/6 and 1/2 barrel kegs.
  • Complete any and all cellar tasks as needed – Tank CIP, Carbonating beer, Dry hopping, etc.
  • Communicate regularly and efficiently with LBC leadership team and staff
  • Be informed of beer trends locally and nationally
  • Oversee tap line maintenance
  • Maintain brewing and packaging logs
  • Ensure walk-in cooler is stocked with fresh kegs regularly
  • Prepare equipment for off-site events
  • Occasional delivery of kegs for distribution
  • Assist with canning core and seasonal beers on a regular basis

Perform other duties as assigned including beer festivals, keg delivery, etc.
